Step onto the yellow Gabbeh Lola barefoot and the wool feels soft and springy, with the slight unevenness of a hand-woven surface. The colour is a warm, sunny yellow.

A round rug breaks up the straight lines of sofas, shelves and tables. Beside an armchair it marks out a small reading corner, and in the lounge it makes a bright circle rug between the sofa and the coffee table. Short pile keeps it flat. Heated floors are fine.

Pile and backing are 100% wool, hand-woven in India. That makes it a round wool rug through and through, and it fits among wool rugs as well as living room rugs.

Beat it from the back and let it air now and then. Turning it round occasionally keeps sun and footsteps even, which is one of the simplest points in our care guide. Yellow wool on tiles or boards needs an underlay a little inside its edge to stop it moving.
