A narrow galley kitchen has one path, from the door to the window, and the light grey Kelim Chindi Uni runner follows it.

Chindi weaving uses strips of fabric on a handloom, so each runner varies slightly. Cotton feels soft underfoot. This one is 100% cotton, woven by hand in India with fringed ends. Like all our cotton rugs, it is fine over underfloor heating, and its handwoven size can vary a little.

Put the light grey runner through a 30 °C programme alone and dry it flat, without a tumble dryer. That makes it a washable rug for the kitchen, where it appears among our kitchen rugs, and for a bedroom.

Used as a hallway runner, it frames the route, with floor left free to the walls and in front of doors so they swing open. Mark it with tape and pick the length from our sizing tips.

Dab spots with cold water and a mild cleaner. Afterwards, as our rug care tips say, let the cotton dry fully before laying it down again. Light grey Chindi Uni runners need nothing more than a shake between washes.
