Rug 80x150 cm
1.2 m² is all it takes for the first step out of bed. An 80 x 150 cm rug (about 2ft 7in x 4ft 11in) is the classic small size for the bedside, the hallway or a reading nook. We make it in synthetic fibre, wool, cotton, jute and viscose. Most are rectangular, a few are oval.
Where an 80 x 150 cm rug lies well
A few placements that tend to work:
- beside the bed, lengthways, with the edge tucked about 20 cm under the bed frame
- in the hallway, across the floor in front of the door, preferably a flat one
- in a reading nook, at an angle in front of the armchair
- in a children's room, as a play area in front of the shelves
For everything around the bed, browse our bedroom rugs. Bigger play areas are in our kids rugs range.
Is 80 x 150 cm already a runner? Not really. It is barely twice as long as it is wide, which reads more like a bedside rug. For a short hallway, though, the size does the job nicely.
Flat, textured or soft
The cotton kilims lie completely flat, so the front door swings over them. A small jute 80x150 rug has more texture and vacuums easily. The sisal-look version is a little smoother and, despite its name, consists of 80% jute and 20% cotton. Soft and warm under bare feet? Then wool, with its fuller pile.
Some of the jute designs are cut as ovals. There is no round version of this size.
Colours in a small size
Beige, cream and grey are the most common. An 80x150 grey rug or one in beige stays in the background and suits wooden boards as well as tiles. Strong shades like red or blue are easy to try out on such a small surface.
Many designs also come one step up, as a 120 x 170 cm rug, a rug 140 x 200 cm or a 160 x 230 cm rug. That way the bedroom and the living area can match.
Frequently asked questions
Is it too small for a sofa?
Yes. In front of a sofa or under a dining table it looks lost. Take 160 x 230 cm or more there.
Do you have it in oval?
Yes, a few jute designs. In front of rounded furniture an oval looks softer than a rectangle.
What should I use by the front door?
Something flat, a cotton kilim for instance. The door swings over it, and dirt from outside vacuums off easily.
How big is an 80x150 rug in feet?
About 2ft 7in by 4ft 11in.
