Round Wool Rugs
Wool springs back underfoot, and a circle has no corners to trip over. Put the two together and you get a rug that likes the children's room, the reading corner or the spot under a round table. Every round wool rug we sell is made by hand, either woven or tufted, from Ø 60 cm to Ø 300 cm. Ø 120 cm is the most common size.
Reading Corner and Bedside
Ø 60 to Ø 100 cm fits in front of the bed or an armchair. A reading corner wants Ø 120 to Ø 160 cm, which leaves room for your feet and a side table. Ø 160 cm comes in one wool design only, but our 160cm round rugs show every material in that diameter.
Woven and tufted feel different. With weaving, the base and the surface are made in one go, and the woven designs have a fuller pile. With tufting, the yarn is punched into a backing fabric. The tufted design lies flatter and has a mottled look. Nearly all are 100% wool. One blends 70% wool with 30% polyester.
Round Wool Rug in the Children's Room
Some designs are made for children. They are handwoven from 100% wool, with a short pile, in cream. Building blocks stand up on them. Playing on the floor feels warmer, too.
Round Tables and Seating Groups
A round wool rug of Ø 200 cm already carries a small seating group, and our living room rugs give more ideas for that. Beneath a dining table, about 60 cm should show on every side. At Ø 200 cm the table should therefore be no wider than 80 cm. Ø 250 and Ø 300 cm suit large rooms where all the seating stands on the rug.
Grey and cream lead the colours. Calm natural tones such as beige or taupe are there as well. Yellow and turquoise bring in colour, and so does orange.
Outdoors or in Jute
Like the shape but prefer a coarser natural fibre? Then look at a round jute rug. For balcony and patio there are round outdoor rugs, and stretched out but still without corners is the oval rug.
Frequently asked questions
Does a wool rug shed?
Loose fibres come away in the first weeks. After a few rounds with the vacuum it drops off noticeably.
How should I vacuum it?
Without a rotating brush. Dab stains with a slightly damp cloth instead of rubbing.
Will table legs leave marks?
Wool is springy. Dents from table or sofa legs recover over time.
